Tanzania is best known for its land-based wildlife safaris, but don’t forget what’s under the sea – the country’s many marine sanctuaries are home to thousands of species of fish, dazzling coral reefs and fascinating marine mammals such as whale sharks and dolphins.

Culturally, Tanzania is rich in attractions for the visitor – almost anywhere you go you will hear the strains of popular music pumping out of the radio, while live drumming, dance and musical performances are a feature of even the most modest town. The various ethnic groups in Tanzania each have their own cultural traditions, with exuberant rituals and ceremonies to mark such milestones as birth, harvest, death or marriage.
