Mikumi National Park
Mikumi National Park, just a convenient few hours drive from Dar es Salaam, is part of the greater Selous Ecosystem. Mikumi sits at the intersection of four major vegetation zones, meaning that the park offers a huge variety of different habitats, from the open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti, to the forest-covered foothills of the Uluguru and Rubeco mountains that rise from the park’s borders. Mikumi is one of the best places in Tanzania to catch a sighting of the elusive Eland, the world’s largest antelope, or the shy greater kudu and rare sable antelope.
